Russia spent $324.8 million on the massive missile and drone attack on the night and morning of 3 February — enough to fund the Russian city of Kaluga for a year, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported.
Russia deployed 562 air attack weapons, including Iskander and RM-48U ballistic missiles, hypersonic Zircon and Onyx missiles, Kh-101, Iskander-K and Kh-32 cruise missiles. Simultaneously, strike drones Geran, Harpia and Gerbera decoy drones were launched.
The total cost of the weapons used, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate, was $324.8 million — more than $190 million more than during the massive shelling on 20 January. At that time, Moscow spent over $131 million on the attack. Ukraine, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, spent about 80 million euros on repelling that attack (for air defense missiles alone).
The Main Intelligence Directorate claims that the funds spent by Moscow on the attack on the night of 3 February could support the Jewish Autonomous Oblast of Russia with a population of about 144,000 people for a whole year, or the city of Kaluga with a population of over 320,000. This amount is also comparable to the six-month budget of the Kostroma region.
At the same time, intelligence emphasized that most of the resources spent — 79.2% — proved futile: Ukrainian air defense destroyed 450 air targets.
On the night of 3 February, Russia launched 71 missiles and 450 drones at Ukraine. Thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants that worked exclusively for heating were under attack. Eight oblasts suffered as a result of the attack. Russia used a record number of ballistic missiles for this strike.
Zelenskyy believes that the Russians violated the energy truce — "or they have incomplete four days in a week." He also said that against the backdrop of this shelling, the work of the Ukrainian negotiating team will be adjusted accordingly. At the same time, Trump believes that Putin "kept his word," and that the "truce" allegedly operated from 25 January to 1 February.
Ukraine has transmitted detailed information to the United States about all shellings by Russia during the "truce."
