Ukraine's National Guard said its Khartiia Brigade repelled a Russian assault north of Kharkiv over the past week, killing about 70 Russian soldiers.
According to the statement, Russian forces carried out repeated assault attempts in the area of responsibility of the 13th National Guard Brigade Khartiia, which is part of the National Guard's 2nd Corps.
Combined arms defense stops Russian breakthrough attempts
The brigade said the attacks were stopped through coordinated action by infantry units, drone operators, artillery, and supporting elements. Russian troops failed to break through Ukrainian positions and were forced to withdraw.
Khartiia published drone footage and material from ground units showing the fighting and the aftermath of the failed assaults.
In December, the brigade conducted Ukraine's first fully robotic combat operation using ground robots, UAVs, and FPV drones. Earlier this week, fighters from the brigade raised the Ukrainian flag over Kupiansk's city hall after storming the building during clearing operations.
Northern Kharkiv front under sustained Russian pressure
The area north of Kharkiv has remained under sustained pressure as Russian forces continue probing attacks along the frontline and near the border, despite heavy losses and limited territorial gains.
Ukrainian border guards in the same region killed 21 Russian soldiers during another failed ground assault over recent days. Ukraine's Border Guard Service said Moscow continues looking for new directions to expand active combat operations.
Ukrainian units defending the region say they continue to hold their positions and prevent Russian forces from advancing toward Kharkiv.
