Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced a 13% reduction in personnel casualties during 2025, according to his Facebook post.
"Thanks to the effective combat work of the Defense Forces, the enemy has not been able to increase its grouping for a long time—because we are now destroying more Russian military personnel each month than the aggressor country conscripts," Syrskyi wrote.
He added: "At the same time, during 2025 we managed to reduce the number of our own personnel losses by 13%."
According to the commander-in-chief, Ukrainian forces prevented Russia from implementing its strategic objectives throughout the year while maintaining key positions and preparing for further operations.
"The Russian aggressor sought to end the war against Ukraine—but planned to end it with a rout, imposing its terms from a position of strength. It tried to capture the remaining territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, the right bank of Kherson region, and intended to reach Odesa to completely cut off our access to the sea," Syrskyi stated.
He noted that Ukrainian forces "did not allow critical breakthroughs by the enemy, disrupted its plans, and repeatedly forced it to postpone the deadlines for planned operations."
