The Kremlin wants a victory under a Christmas tree. Russia is attempting to capture Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast by the New Year, says Vladyslav Pervukhin, commander of an infantry company in the 4th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Novyny.Ranok reports.
“Pokrovsk is not theirs”: what is really happening on this axis
According to the Ukrainian soldier, the Russian military is investing enormous resources into the Pokrovsk battle: manpower, guided aerial bombs, and aviation.
“Most likely, they want to announce the full capture of Pokrovsk by the New Year. They may even declare it, as their propaganda is flexible. But the fact remains: Pokrovsk is not theirs, and Myrnohrad is ours,” Pervukhin stresses.
Equipment destroyed “to zero”: what is happening on the front line
Pervukhin also says that Russian forces are not abandoning attempts to advance along the Dobropillia axis in order to outflank Pokrovsk.
According to the Ukrainian soldier, over the past week alone, Russia committed up to 30 units of heavy equipment, including tanks and armored fighting vehicles, against his battalion’s positions.
“All of it was completely destroyed. Then, for several more days, our UAV pilots finished off those who managed to scatter into tree lines and sheds,” he emphasizes.
The defense is holding strong, he adds, and all Kremlin statements should be divided by at least two.
