Sweden calls for urgent Ukraine support after Russia’s latest strike proves peace “not an option”

Sweden's Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said the latest massive Russian strike on Ukraine demonstrates the Kremlin's lack of interest in peace.

"It is obvious that Russia does not want peace," Stenergard wrote on X, commenting on the attack.

The Swedish minister called for increased support for Ukraine in response to the Russian assault. "The parts of the world that still believe in the rules based world order must immediately increase the support to Ukraine and put more pressure on Russia," she stressed.

Air raid alerts were declared in Kyiv and most oblasts during the attack. The massive strike involving Russian drones and ballistic missiles damaged residential buildings in several districts of the capital. The attack resulted in casualties and injuries.

Moldova temporarily closed its airspace due to drone incursions, according to reports.

Poland scrambled its aircraft and placed ground-based air defense systems on full combat readiness in response to the attack.
