Latvia's Foreign Minister Baiba Braze has linked Russia's massive overnight attack on Ukraine to an upcoming visit by a US delegation to Moscow, describing the strike as a "welcome" from the "Kremlin butcher."
"While most people around the world are enjoying weekend and US their Thanksgiving holiday, ordinary Ukrainians emerge from shelters after a night of Russian bombing. That's preparation for next round of peace talks and Kremlin butcher's welcome for the US delegates," Braze wrote on X.
The statement came after Russia launched a combined attack on Ukraine during the night of 29 November, killing three people and injuring dozens. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia fired 36 missiles and nearly 600 drones at Ukraine.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha responded to the attack by stating that Putin wants to continue the war at any cost. Sweden's Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said the strike demonstrates that the Kremlin is not interested in peace.
