On a press conference at the Ukraine-Northern Europe summit on 28 October, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced a new aid package worth €500 million for Ukraine, with €350 million designated for military assistance, Militarnyi reports.
According to Støre, the package will be implemented in cooperation with Danish colleagues.
“That is why we would like to announce a new aid package worth €500 million, of which €350 million will be allocated to the military package. We will work with our Danish colleagues to implement this initiative,” Støre stated.
The announcement came after summit participants, including Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reviewed front line assessments. Støre acknowledged the toll of Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians, particularly women and children.
The assistance falls under Norway’s Nansen Program, which encompasses both military and civilian support for Ukraine. While specific allocation details weren’t provided, the program is designed to maintain flexibility in response to evolving needs.
In late September 2024, the Norwegian government proposed increasing their support by €425 million for the current year, while establishing a minimum annual commitment of NOK €1.275 billion through 2030.
