Ukrainian air assault brigades have launched targeted attacks against the Russian 155th Naval Infantry Brigade in retaliation for the execution of nine Ukrainian prisoners, according to a Forbes report.
The Russians summarily executed the Ukrainian POWs on 10 October, after Russia’s 155th Naval Infantry Brigade counterattacked along the western edge of the Ukrainian-held salient in Russia’s Kursk Oblast. After overrunning a team of lightly armed Ukrainian drone operators, the Russians reportedly stripped the Ukrainians, ordered them to lie face down, and shot them in the head, violating international law.
The terrain around Zeleny Shlyakh, where the attack has occurred, is described as flat and mostly treeless. This geography has made it difficult for Ukrainian invaders to prepare adequate fortifications, leaving them vulnerable to Russian attacks.
In response, the Ukrainian 82nd and 95th Air Assault Brigades, holding positions southeast and southwest of the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade, have conducted ambushes against Russian marines. The Ukrainian air assault forces stated, “The same fate will await other soldiers from this brigade.”
The 82 Brigade ambushed a group of killers from the russian 155 separate marine infantry brigade of the Pacific Fleet.

The 155th Naval Infantry Brigade has a particularly notorious reputation among Ukrainian troops. In August, the Russian brigade allegedly beheaded four Ukrainians and displayed the severed heads on poles, behavior reminiscent of Islamic terror groups.
The ongoing Ukrainian incursion into Kursk Oblast has seen Russian forces slowly chipping away at the Ukrainian salient, especially on its western edge, with Ukraine losing about a third of what they controlled in Kursk in early September.
