Ukrainian drones hit military aviation training center in Russia’s Voronezh Oblast

Russian propagandist Telegram channels have reported that Ukrainian drones struck a military aviation training center in Russia’s Voronezh Oblast, bordering the occupied areas of eastern Ukraine. According to the reports, two drones exploded on the premises of the Borisoglebsk military aviation training center, damaging the building’s façade and windows, Liga says.

Later, surveillance camera footage from several hundred meters away emerged on the Baza Telegram channel, showing the moment of one of the explosions accompanied by the sound of automatic gunfire, indicating Russian attempts to shoot down the unmanned aerial vehicles.

A source within Ukraine’s defense forces told Liga that the operation was successful, carried out by the country’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of the Defense Ministry.

The Borisoglebsk military aviation training center is the second school for Russian pilots, established in 1922. The center trains personnel for the Russian Air Force’s frontal bombing and assault aviation.

The Russian governor of the region, Alexander Gusev, had previously reported the drone attack, claiming that air defense forces and electronic warfare systems in the Voronezh region detected and destroyed a fixed-wing UAV.

The Liga’s source stated that the main production facility at the center was the target of the strike, not specifying what exactly has been produced at the facility.
