The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office reported that Russian forces shot and killed three unarmed Ukrainian prisoners of war (POW) near Krynky in the occupied part of the Kherson region.

“Once again, Russia is demonstratively ignoring the Geneva Convention on POW treatment, indicating support from the Russian military’s highest command,” the statement said.

The Prosecutor’s Office also said the Kherson regional prosecutor has opened an investigation into the violation of laws of war and willful murder.

Footage of the POW execution was published by a Ukrainian military correspondent Andriy Tsaplienko. He reported the soldiers were captured near Krynky, a village on the Russian-occupied east bank of the Dnipro River. However, Ukrainians established a foothold in the area in October 2023.
