Zelenskyy: Ukraine needs more Patriot systems to protect Kharkiv, other cities

Throughout March, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with over 400 missiles of various types, over 600 Shaheds explosive drones, and over 3,000 guided aerial bombs, which highlights Ukraine’s need for the Patriot missile systems, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his daily video address to the nation.

Lately, Russia significantly escalated its aerial attack against Kharkiv City, located in northeastern Ukraine close to the Russian border, launching much more explosive drones, and ballistic missiles, and adding deadly gliding bombs to the mix.

Various cities and villages of Ukraine suffer from this terror, and Russia especially brutally strikes the front-line territories and border communities,” the Ukrainian leader stressed.

Zelenskyy highlighted that the daily devastation of critical infrastructure and residential buildings would cease when Ukraine receives reliable air defense systems capable of safeguarding the lives of citizens and reinstating security in Ukrainian cities.

“Patriot in the hands of Ukrainians proved that all forms of Russian terror can lose. And this is necessary – necessary for our Kharkiv and all other cities and communities whose lives are now under Russian attack,” President Zelenskyy emphasized.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Kuleba stated that multiple countries have Patriot systems, which can and should be quickly transferred to Ukraine, urging partners to demonstrate the required political will, according to Liga.

President Zelenskyy noted in February that other countries, not the US, supplied Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems. He suggested that five to seven systems could significantly enhance protection for industry, schools, and military operations.
