Netherlands pledges €350 mln to Ukraine for F-16 munitions and drones

The Netherlands has announced a new $350 million military aid package for Ukraine, which includes air-to-ground missiles for F-16 fighters and modern drones. The country will allocate over $150 million to purchase the missiles directly from the industry, ensuring Ukraine receives the ammunition shortly after obtaining the F-16 fighter jets.

In addition to the missiles, the Netherlands is sending F-16 fighter jets to Romania to support a training center for Ukrainian and Romanian pilots. The package includes the planes, spare parts, and ammunition.

As part of the air force coalition of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), the Netherlands, along with Denmark and the United States, is leading the effort. 18 Dutch F-16s are available for training in Romania, while 24 others are being prepared for delivery to Ukraine in consultation with coalition partners.

Furthermore, the Netherlands is contributing over €200 million to procure and donate a significant number of Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) drones to Ukraine.

“These drones are already in use and have proven themselves on the battlefield,” according to Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren.
