Intense battles continue across the eastern and southern fronts, with a total of 70 skirmishes occurring in just the past day, Ukraine’s General Staff reported in its evening frontline update on 5 December.

Over the past day, Russian forces launched four missiles and 53 aerial strikes and carried out 59 artillery barrages using multiple rocket launch systems.

Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro in the Kherson Oblast, continuing to strike occupying forces. Over the day, the Ukrainian military conducted 15 strikes on Russia’s personnel, weapons, and military equipment concentrations, four on command posts, and three on anti-aircraft missile systems. Additionally, Ukrainian air forces destroyed a Russian Su-24M ground attack aircraft near Zmiinyi island.

Ukrainian missile units targeted six regions with concentrations of Russian personnel and equipment concentrations, one command post, one ammunition depot, two electronic warfare stations, and 11 Russian artillery pieces.

According to the General Staff, the Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled multiple attacks across different fronts. In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five Russian attacks in the areas of Synkivka in the Kharkiv Oblast and Novoselivske in the Luhansk Oblast.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 13 Russian attacks, supported by aviation, as Russian troops attempted to displace them from their positions in areas including Bilohorivka of the Luhansk Oblast and Terny, Spirne, Vesely, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk Oblast.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defense forces countered nine Rusian attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka of the Donetsk Oblast. Similarly, on the Avdiivka front, Ukrainian defenders thwarted 23 enemy attacks in areas east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, northeast of Berdychi, Avdiivka, Severne, and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk Oblast, where the Russian forces unsuccessfully attempted to break through Ukrainianian defenses with aviation support.
