Croatia transfers its all Mi-8 helicopters to Ukraine as military aid

Croatia has provided its all Mi-8 helicopters to Ukraine as part of military assistance, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on 19 October during a meeting with Croatian Defense Minister Mario Banožić in Washington, according to the Pentagon’s website.

“We appreciate Croatia’s steadfast commitment to helping Ukraine, and we see it in your numerous donations of military equipment, including all of your Mi-8 helicopters, and in your forward deployment of troops to NATO battlegroups in Poland, Lithuania, and Hungary,” Austin said.

He added that “all of this is having a real impact on Ukraine’s fight for freedom.”

Previously, Ukraine and Croatia signed a bilateral agreement on joint demining operations on war-torn Ukrainian territory. Croatia has already allocated over €1 million for demining efforts in Ukraine.
