Yury Biryukov, an advisor to the President of Ukraine, was appointed assistant of Minister of Defense responsible for the supply of ammunition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Biryukov commented that his new appointment gives him an opportunity to use certain powers that he previously did not have.
“Currently the focus is on the analysis and identification of bottlenecks,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
According to Biryukov, as an advisor to the President it came to him as a surprise “that the Defense Ministry is not just bound by its hands and feet in matters of security, but it’s (Ed. – the MoD) mouth is also shut.”
Yuri Biryukov is the Ukrainian businessman who organized a group of volunteers in the “Wings of the Phoenix,” which helps supply the Ukrainian Army with ammunition. As mentioned on their website, the goal of “Wings of the Phoenix” is to “equip, uniform, protect and improve the Ukrainian Army as quickly as possible. [Wings of Phoenix has] already delivered thousands of helmets, bulletproof vests, hundreds of radio sets and sights to the military units on the front line.”
