Two organizers of Kharkiv riots detained

Police have arrested two men responsible for organizing mass riots in Kharkiv, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported on its website, April 30.

Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Kharkiv Oblast detained Yuriy Apukhtin and Spartak Holovachov. Law enforcement has determined the two men coordinated their activities outside of Ukraine and then organized riots and criminal activities in the Kharkiv area.

The detainees are suspected of having committed a crime under Article 294 (riots) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty is 15 years. Bail is being determined.

The Ministry states that all criminals who infringe of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country will be arrested in a similar manner.
