Obama and Merkel insist that Putin started negotiations with Turchynov

USA President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have called for direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia to discuss Moscow’s military actions in Crimea. This was discussed during the telephone conversations of American and German leaders. The parties discussed the guarantee of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the need to avoid an escalation of the conflict, specifically “by sending international observers and human rights monitoring mission.” Obama and Merkel emphasized the need to “continue to support the Government of Ukraine, which works to stabilize the economy and prepares for elections in May,” said in a statement from the White House.

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he does not consider current Ukrainian government legitimate and does not recognize the acting President Oleksandr Turchynov, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and other current officials as legal. According to Putin, he does not negotiate with Ukraine because Turchynov is not a legal president. Putin also refused to acknowledge the presence of Russian troops in Crimea and said that Ukrainian troops were blocked by the local “self-defense forces.”  Source:http://www.pravda.com.ua/news/2014/03/5/7017620/

Russia is trying to hide its troops from the OSCE committee

Russia is trying to relocate its troops in the Crimea so that OSCE committee will not record their presence. This was stated by the Secretary of National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Andrew Parubiy (according to Interfax-Ukraine).

“It is obvious that only cover actions were performed by the so-called self-defense units. Most actions were carried out by Russian troops and special forces,” – he said. “And they do not even hide it in conversations with our military, our troops,” – he said. “For us, the question is not whether there are Russian troops in Crimea. Of course, they are there. Of course, they are stationed near our troops,” – he said. “And even this night when it became known that the OSCE was coming to the ARC, they are trying to relocate those troops so those that are part of the Black Sea Fleet remain there and those that were transferred from Russia were removed so that the OSCE would be unable to capture their presence. But Russian troops were and are currently located on the peninsula of Crimea,” – asserted Parubiy. Source:http://www.pravda.com.ua/news/2014/03/5/7017678/
