Kremlin trolls exposed: Russia’s information war against Ukraine

Analysis & Opinion

UKRINFORM journalist Lana Samokhvalova found something strange while browsing facebook for a schedule of commemorative events dedicated to the Euromaidan Revolution– she accidently unearthed an entire network of very suspicious, self-identified “Ukrainian patriots.” She quickly realized they were Kremlin trolls who had been working systematically to destabilize the situation in Ukraine:

“There was a very distinct pattern. Every two-three days, they’d urge people to bring Molotov cocktails to these commemorative events. To overthrow this government, to throw their Molotov cocktails and march on the government. It was very a distinct and systematic call for violence.”

The moderator of the group, Mykola Hayduk, called himself Stepan Mazura at the time. It’s hard to keep track of who’s who; they change their display names regularly. But Lana pinned him as the lead author, primary source and instigator of would-be riots. In truth, however, he had no connection to Ukraine whatsoever– except for a patriotic profile picture.

“I got some scans of his internet browser. I found out that he’d been online in St. Petersburg, Moscow and the Moscow Oblast. It was just direct proof of what had been obvious from the very beginning of the investigation.”

Mykola Hayduk is just one cog in a larger Russian information war machine. Russia seems prepared to spend whatever it takes to destabilize Ukraine, Europe and the rest of the Western world. They do this by hiring thousands of trolls.

Social activist Liudmyla Savchuk knows a lot about how this Russian troll factory works. She was able to infiltrate the Kremlin troll army:

“They’re everywhere — Facebook, Vkontakte, LiveJournal, Odnoklassniki. They make their own fake news sites. They create their own news agencies. They pretend to be Ukrainian journalists. They write as if they’re Ukrainian journalists.  As if they’re from Kyiv or Kharkiv, but they’re really in Russia. They simply take a news piece, re-write it how they need it, distort the information and send it out into the world.”

According to Liudmyla Savchuk, there are more than 400 Kremlin trolls in the Saint Petersburg office alone. They work 12-hour shifts following specific instructions and are paid $1000 a month. It can lead to tragic consequences:

“This information war they lead is mostly aimed at Ukraine and the United States. Until this information war ends, there won’t be an end to any other. And never end, unless this information war is stopped. I don’t even know, it’s just such a tragic situation.”

The tragic consequences and sheer scale of this information war piqued the interest of another Ukrainian journalist — Roman Kulchinskiy.

With the help of his colleagues, Roman has exposed about 2,000 Kremlin trolls. He’s studied their methods. The way they push buttons. Discredit the government. Play on the emotions of everyday Ukrainians.

“Their aim is to lure real people into their networks and get their victims to believe in them. When people get trapped in this environment, they become surrounded by hatred, they start believing that things are worse than they were under Yanukovych. The trolls always emphasize this. That Maidan was a mistake, and that it made things worse. That the government’s the same. That something needs to be done. That they need to violently overthrow the government. […] Trolls register very often. One troll might register up to 70 accounts. In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, one of the most important needs is human desire to be accepted and valued by others. Just imagine a person surrounded by 70 people, who are giving you specific information. But those 70 accounts are really just one person.”

To operate effectively and sow the seeds of doubt, Kremlin trolls are divided into different groups. Roman has noticed four distinct types.

Mykola Hayduk is the first kind. He masquerades as a defender of Ukraine. He has a patriotic, military themed profile. He posts violent propaganda and calls for violence against dissidents.

The second type is the political commentator. They post quotes about the government, political garbage and demonize the country’s leaders.

Another very interesting type is the perfect Ukrainian. This is usually a very beautiful girl. She’ll be dressed in blue and yellow or has blue and yellow makeup. She’ll be gorgeous. She’ll have very high-quality photos. They take pictures of girls in front of sunflowers or wheat and a blue sky. In short, they’re very well done, carefully selected images of the perfect Ukrainian girl. But her beauty doesn’t match what she writes. She will share the same outright lies and conspiracies.

The fourth type is the rarest. They’re predators. They almost never post anything. They are administrators.

However, despite their secrecy, it’s not actually that difficult to recognize the pawns of this Russian-funded information war.

“A real person actually writes… Even if they’re politically engaged, if they’re very worried about the country and are interested in politics, a real person posts personal things. About friends, travels, et cetera. If you go to their page and can’t find one post about their personal life, it’s a sight that this isn’t actually a person.”

Always pay attention to what’s happening on a page. Trolls might post some cute memes or cat photos. But when it comes to political issues, they toe the Kremlin line.

“When 70 to 80% of the page’s content is treason, or how bad things are in the country, then there’s a good chance that this was made for you in Moscow. A second thing to look out for are calls to violence. If they’re systematically pushing violent ideas, that violence is the only way to solve your problems, then that’s made for you in Lubyanka.”

Moreover, experts advise that you never respond to their posts, because the more reactions a troll gets, the more money they get paid. And don’t be naive. Always double check information. The days of a bias-free or non-politically-charged internet are long gone:

Never believe a single article. Always double check information with a reliable, trustworthy source. Or look for other, official sources. If there are inconsistencies, then you’re dealing with a troll or you’re being trolled. It’s knowingly false information intended to deceive.”

There’s a legion of them. Their weapons are lies and manipulation. They need a large army of zombies to further the Kremlin’s plan. But recognizing them is simple: double check your information.

Hey “Ralphie”, “TOTO”, “Nobrains Nordheim” and all you other A$$CLOWN TROLLS, let’s hear your comments on this story!!!! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/77f8402af4747d107df0fdec9ba16c68ff7b82adf46056fa7bf4a3738dc23180.jpg

Excellent article! Superb insight into RTroll classification, MO (or operating procedures), how to spot them and – most importantly – how to NOT react or respond to them! Well done! We need more articles like this in even and ever more prominent places. Keep up the great work! :)

    • Murf

Naw Brent, we don’t know nothin about trolls do we?

    • туфтуф

Normal in war time. Exaggerated importance.

      • Dagwood Bumstead

But Tsar Vladimir the not-so-Great repeatedly tells us that Dwarfstan isn’t involved in the Donbas in any way. So how can you say “Normal in wartime”??????

        • туфтуф

I didnt know he said it. I assumed he was involved to a certain extent. But if he says so, who am l to contradict.

          • Brent

Who are you? Just ANOTHER LYING TROLL….

            Need anything else clairified?

          • туфтуф

Yes. My friends from the front line say Ukraine has 210 tanks and DPR has 700. True?

          • Brent

Are those “friends” speaking to you from the coffee cans their ashes are stuffed into after Russia secretly cremates them? I thought the Russian Orthodox Church doesn’t view cremation favorably?

        • туфтуф

How can a decent politician not tell lies? On top of that, 1 must always remember he used to be a professional spy, and spies’ words should NEVER be taken 4 granted. Neither should their actions 4 they are almost always a smoke screen.

          • Alex George

He was a sort-of spy. He only got to major whereas many of his peers rose much higher, and he was put out to grass in Dresden.

          • туфтуф

Change of theme: Timoshenko declared herself to be the only politician, able to bring order to the country and save it from a war of all against all.
Poroshenko ponders whether to ask Russia to sell him electricity. Russia agrees, but at the price per wat as it is in Russia, and Ukraine cnt afford it.
Yesterdays news: a ukrainian nazi called the White Master says that his positions are being relentlessly shelled by the freedom fighters of Donbass and that ukroarmy suffered many fatalities. What follows is copy/paste of his interview which is on youtube. This is my transcript.

      • Brent

So now you admit there is a war??? In your case, there has always been a war on intelligence and common sense, TOTO THE TROLL….

  • Mephisto
    • туфтуф

Normal in war time. I wldnt worry that much.

      • Alex George

        We don’t.

This in itself is an expression of Russian weakness – they use these methods because they lack military strength.

    • Brent

Start with all the on line shills like Dmitry Kiselyov but broadcast it live on Russian tv, then move onto the Russian oligarchs…

  • Mephisto

In Czech Republic, the trolls are hard to spot, because for some reason they speak perfect Czech. I suspect they come from the fifth column of Russians living in our country (cca 40 000) or their children. They constantly swamp all the discussions under all media, they propagate the Russian trojan horse Zeman (sadly, our president), Trump, Le Pen, subvert and undermine EU, erode trust in media (“fake news etc”). They have been doing this for years. Slowly subverting, spreading anti-EU sentiments, incouriging various right-wing nationalist useful idiots…. It is a problem that is hard to fix, because many voters are too stupid to realize they are being manipulated.

    • Estmannn

YES. Exactly the same has been going on in Estonia, my home country, for many years already. I am currently in Australia and it is happening here as well. Nobody here knows anything about it and tve government is seemingly oblivious. I have been trying to tell people about it but they just think i am crazy and “russofobic”. So deeply has russia brainwashed the aussies. They simply have no idea. It is scary to see. Soon they are gonna get their trump.

Coming back to our country Estonia. It is quite bad there as well, but the general population that still trusts the mainstream media and doesn’t get their opinions from alt media conspiracy or new age woo websites are still much more aware of this happening than the australians.

I hope Czechs will be able to keep their sanity in this time of insanity. All the best to you!

      • Dale Davies

Oz is similar to N. America in being isolated by ocean. This gives a sense of safety. This the troll attacks go unnoticed.
During WW2 there was fear that Japan would attack our west coast (Canada). My grandfather was an officer in the Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry. They were waiting to board a ship to Europe when they pulled him out. Somebody had noticed he was a teacher. He was sent to Vancouver and set up a correspondence training program. They had young men on islands all up the coast observing. Grandfather would be flown to these installations in a flying boat. He would mark completed materials and discuss with the young men any problems they had with it. Then he would give them a new batch of material to work on for a couple of weeks until he returned. This kept the guys busy during off hours so they did not get mischievious. Many got their high school diploma through this. At that time many came from farms and quit school after grade 8 or 9.

      • Alex George

Keep up the good work and don’t be discouraged.

Every time the truth is posted somewhere, it chips away at Putin’s disinformation campaign. In the end, there are far more of us than there are of the Kremtrolls.

      • Igor Volovik

        What are your taking about.

        • MichaelA

he is talking about estonia and australia

          • Igor Volovik

He trying to compare to different places.

          • Quartermaster

Obviously what he said is way over your head.

          • MichaelA

then why did you write the stupid question if you knew what he was talking about?

        • Brent

He’s talking about THE TRUTH. Something you Trolls don’t understand…

      • туфтуф

No one can keep their sanity in an insane world. The world needs restructuring and that is exactly what Russia and China are doing.

        • Alex George

LOL, as if Russia does anything! China is a great power. Russia does what China says.

    • туфтуф

Thete is NO way of fixing the problem. Internet is to blame.

      • Brent

Lying murdering invading Russians are to blame.

        • туфтуф

I agree. I was telling my nazi friend Olena Semenyaka not to take part in maidan, saying that Russia will simply not allow nato presence in Crimea. But it was too late. She had already received money from Soros. I knew how this little adventure wld end then, and l know it now. Tragic.

          • Mykola Potytorsky

            who is Soros?

          • туфтуф

Change of scenary. U understand Russian so l wnt bother with translation.

          • Mykola Potytorsky

sorry, I do not understand this dialect, I hear it is quaint

          • туфтуф

Stick it into google. U ll get the meaning.

          • Mykola Potytorsky

what ever, the russo language is still a quaint dialect. a fake language if you will.

          • туфтуф

Quaint has positive conotations. For instance, when septic tanks (Cockney rhyme for Yanks) come to Britain, they say for our cottages Oh, how quaint. No language is fake, especially the one with one of the greatest literature written in it. One can remember Pushkin, Lermontov, Lev Tolstoy, Dostoevsky etc.

          • Mykola Potytorsky

still a fake language with fake writers from a fake country

          • туфтуф

Pushkin was ukrainian l hear. But there s no surviving poems in his mother tongue. Shame.

          • Alex George

LOL What a complete ignoramus you are – Pushkin Ukirainian!

Pushkin was Russian, back in the days when Russia produced great literature. That has all ceased under Putin,

And no, you don’t know anybody who took part in Maidan. Nice try, you old windbag. ;o)

          • туфтуф

            I dnt know. I said l HEARD.

  • Randolph Carter

Let’s set the record straight – the Kremlin has:

leeches, bloodsuckers, bottom feeders, lowlifes, misfits, deviants, lepers, freaks, perverts, warped scum, oddballs, weirdos, freaks, screwballs, troublemakers, scoundrels, malefactors, criminals, reprobates, maggots, scumballs, douchebags, morons, psychopaths, mental defectives and villains.

But not any trolls. Definitely not. There’s no more palm oil cheese or vodka so they left.

    • туфтуф

Whats wrong with palms and their oil on 1 side, and cheese on the other?

  • zorbatheturk

All ruSSian trolls should be fed to live crocodiles.

    • туфтуф

I love crocks. Had one 4 dinner in Manila. Tasty.

      • zorbatheturk

You had a Filipino billy boy.

        • туфтуф

          Crock. Am sure.

        • Dagwood Bumstead

Billy Boys are in Singapore, their usual haunt was Bugis Street. If I’m not mistaken they are known as “Bakla” in the Philippines and “Katoi” in Thailand.
Anyway, regardless of the name he was part of the sandwich in Manila: the filling.

          • zorbatheturk

All Filipinos know the billy boys. They often work in Manila beauty parlors. They are trannies. Funnily enough, like the Thai ladyboys, they do not consider themselves ” gay ” and usually dislike gay men, instead they seek a straight man as a ” boyfriend “… quite a few young Khmers are turning transsexual in Cambodia now too. And Lao ladyboys are common enough on Vientiane street corners at night. Nothing new, there is a long history of transsexuals in Southeast Asia. I notice Chinese tour buses are always parked outside the big ladyboy cabarets in Thailand.

    • Quartermaster

Why do you hate Crocodiles so?

    • Brent

Sure, now the poor crocodiles are going to get clogged arteries from munching on ratburger and palm oil cheese polluted troll slime!!!

      • туфтуф

I think all trolls from all sides shld unite in friendship.

      • Dagwood Bumstead

The crocs are far too smart to eat Savushkina trolls. Do give them some credit for good taste. And feeding a Savushkina troll to crocs will get you reported to the RSPCA.

  • Tony

Russia is a joke, instead of investing in their economy, they troll. The result is a banana republic that can’t beat Portugal in terms of GDP (much less GDP per capita) and who’s exports are 70% raw resources.
Jokes on you rusbots, people like you troll Russia into poverty.

    • туфтуф

      Most trolls work for free.

      • Mykola Potytorsky

yeah the russian trolls work for free just part of the whole country being a slave country. or they are in the concentration camps of siberia where you work for crappy food

        • Igor Volovik

          You are plain ykrop

          • Mykola Potytorsky

            and your point is???

          • Mykola Potytorsky

here is some educational material for you

          • Dagwood Bumstead

Do find something simpler, this is far too heavy stuff for the Savushkina trolls! They don’t even understand “Noddy” books! Remember that the ones selected for the job of Savushkina troll aren’t Dwarfstan’s best and brightest to begin with- туф-туф and Njordheim are prime examples. They are then lobotomised and neutered and get 2 litres of the cheapest rotgut samogon the drawf can find as pay for a 12-hour troll shift. And quaffing the dwarf’s rotgut samogon slowly dissolves what’s left of their brain.

          • Brent

Beats being a lying deadbeat troll whose life expectancy is 63 and dropping…”Tic Tic Tic”, little troll, I get 16 more years life expectancy than you!!! Now back to eating your ratburger and palm oil cheese and drinking some good old potent bath lotion!!!

          • Igor Volovik

And what true is. What did you know about .what did you doing in your miserable life. Hy give you rite to blame.

          • туфтуф

63? Wanna live longerrrrrr!!!!!!!! Pls America help me by invading Britain. Just no Iraq or Lybia style. Lolz

      • Alex George

On the contrary, they get their small amount from the public trough.

This of course refers to serious trolls, not old windbags like yourself, who just crave relevance.

        • туфтуф

How does 1 become a paid troll? I am an ideal candidate. Have plenty of time and am willing to work for any country. Speak Burmese, Russian, Greek, English, Mandarin, Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian, Montenegrin, Croatian, German.and Spanish. Dnt speak ukrainian.

          • Brent

            is “Croatian” different from “Croatian”???

Thanks for proving you also speak “MORONESE”….. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/dafe19da1758de7aefbde2b3b59d665e0dd453b7f8f55fb718d32fcfb27602ac.jpg

          • Alex George

Oh please, that is too funny! You are the wally who tells us “Yorge” is greek for George!

Have you ever told the truth in your life, even once?

          • туфтуф

Stick ur name into translate. It will say Yorgos. Yorge is vocative.

          • Alex George

Ha ha, and now the silly old windbag admits he is using google translate and doesn’t know a word of greek. You really are thick.

And no, that’s not how George is spelled in greek

          • туфтуф

Thats transliteration, Yorge, u uneducated hick.

          • Alex George

No, sorry Tuphie, you admitted it. You are using google translate and don’t know a word of Greek.

And no, its not transliteration – even that you got wrong.

          • туфтуф

          • Alex George

Sorry, but you can keep trying to deflect but it won’t succeed. You know know how George is spelled in Greek, not even transliterating.

Its like all your claims to know people or have special sources, all just fluff. You are just an old windbag wishing he was important.

          • туфтуф

Good transliteration it was. Yorgos. Georgios. But it sounds yorgos when pronounced. Thats why l said transliteration, meaning a phonetic 1.

          • Alex George

No, you are just making excuses after you made a complete fool of yourself.

You don’t know any Greek, you just look things up on google and try to sound like you have knowledge. But in reality, you are just an old ignorant windbag.

          • туфтуф

Ha ha, yet another attempt to deflect – after you were caught out, yet again.

          • Alex George

In other words, you are using google translate and don’t know a word of Greek.

And no, its not transliteration – even that you got wrong.

          • туфтуф

            E bas si KURTONCINA

          • Alex George

Yes, yes, more google translate. You don’t know a word of Greek, and no, its not transliteration – even that you got wrong.

      • Dagwood Bumstead

Noooo, you work for 2 litres of the cheapest rotgut samogon the dwarf can get his hands on, in exchange for a 12-hour troll shift. By the way, as of July 1st 2017 this will be cut to 1 litre, as Dwarfstan’s Reserve Fund will be empty by then, leaving only the National Welfare Fund to be plundered by the dwarf for his senseless wars in the Donbas and Syria-wars he can’t win by the way.
This, of course, means that when the Welfare Fund is empty there will be no more rubbles for pensions in Dwarfstan, or for even 1 litre of rotgut samogon for you Savushkina trolls.

        • туфтуф

I d like to work as troll. For any country. Speak several lingos.

          • Brent

The only languages you’ve mastered are “LYING” and “IDIOCY”….you’d better brush up on the rest….

          • туфтуф

Because of Mrs. Toff Trollboy’s attitude I usually don’t respond to her false-flag operations, but this time I’ll make an exception. To start, Toff doesn’t use words for communication or for exchanging information. She uses them to disarm, to hypnotize, to mislead, and to deceive. She claims that the most valuable skill one can have is the ability to lie convincingly. With all due credit to Toff’s fertile imagination, this claim makes no concession to the facts. The truth is that Toff and her phalanx of whiney, volage-brained pseudoscientists have been hard at work creating a one-world government combining gnosticism and prætorianism under the same tent, all under their control. Do I mean conspiracy? Yes I do. I am convinced that there is such a plot, international in scope, generations old in planning, and incredibly wicked in intent. If this raucous scheme is successful, you can wave goodbye to your freedom to say anything publicly about how it is almost impossible for Toff to be truthful on a consistent basis. To top that off, Toff’s suggestions reek of Oblomovism. I use the word “reek” because I need your help if I’m ever to tell Toff what we all think of her—and boy, do I have some choice words I’d like to use. “But I’m only one person,” you might protest. “What difference can I make?” The answer is: a lot more than you think. You see, in a rather infamous speech, Toff exclaimed that education should teach the precepts of particularism and the duties of man towards die-hard, witless appalling-types. (I edited out the rest of what she said because, well, it didn’t really say anything.)

How can we trust Toff if she doesn’t trust us? We can’t. And besides, it wasn’t so long ago that people like you and me were free to light the torch of human rights. Recently, that’s become a lot harder to do. What happened that changed things so much? To put it briefly, Toff Trollboy happened. By hijacking the word “epididymodeferential” and using it to introduce, cultivate, and encourage moral rot, Toff has managed to create a global workers plantation overseen by transnational corporations who have no more concern for the human rights of those who produce their products or services than Toff has for her devotees.

I’ve managed to come up with a way in which Toff’s essays could be made useful. Her essays could be used by the instructors of college courses as a final examination of sorts. Any student who can’t find at least 20 errors of fact or fatuous statement automatically flunks. Extra credit goes to students who realize that there are lots of weepy, wimpy flower children out there who are always whining that I’m being too harsh in my criticisms of Toff. I wish such people would wake up and realize that Toff wants you to believe that she’s simply misunderstood and is actually interested only in peace. You should be wary of such claims. Be aware! Be skeptical! Think! Do not be diverted, deceived, or mesmerized by Toff’s insensate pontifications. In short, Mrs. Toff Trollboy’s indelicate, contumelious mottos have done much to mold the mind of virtually every citizen—young or old, rich or poor, simple or sophisticated. I propose, therefore, that we respond by doing what we can to rouse people’s indignation at Toff.

They are that stupid??? At least that get paid don’t make an a$$ of themselves for free….

Russia is finished, the country is dying, the population is in decline, it is just a matter of time. Russians are drinking themselves to death. That tells you a lot about Russia.

      • Igor Volovik

        Yup yup

  • Joel Harding

In the article it mentions Lubyanka towards the very end. Does that mean the FSB is at the top of the trolls’ hierarchy?

    • MichaelA

      yep

      • туфтуф

FSB does not directly oversee the troll army. They mostly work along the perceived FSB lines.

        • MichaelA

          how would you know?

          • туфтуф

Above ur paygrade. If you were worthy of such info, u wld have rephrased the Q.

          • Alex George

LOL Coming from the old windbag who knows nothing at all about intell! Very funny!

  • туфтуф

I think propaganda war is normal in a war like situation on both sides. Information and “information” are often intertwined even in peaceful times.

  • Eolone

There is another type of troll, if you will, one named General Flynn, who according to leaks to the press, rewrites the presidential daily briefing. What Trump receives in managed or doctored. Flynn, like Carter Page, is known to have ties with Moscow; and, with Flynn, there is danger that state secrets could flow to Moscow. In return, Moscow could give Flynn secret Russian information infused with false intelligence. Moscow is using Flynn; but he is not always in the know. This was made clear when he sought information on the fake news of Polish incursions into Belarus. He passed Moscow’s test: the Keystone Cops administration is easy, almost too easy. If Trump does not fire Flynn, both might face the ire of Congress.

How Putin must have snickered at the incompetent Trump administration. (From Reuters, Feb 9):

“In his first call as president with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump
denounced a treaty that caps U.S. and Russian deployment of nuclear warheads as a bad deal for the United States…. [the New START treaty of 2010, signed by Obama and Medvedev]

“When Putin raised the possibility of extending the 2010 treaty, known as New
START, Trump paused to ask his aides in an aside what the treaty was….”

    • туфтуф

I loved reading ur text. Brainy and welll informed. But remember, u r writing about the shadowy world of intel where things are often not what they seem.

And which you know nothing about. ;o)

There is nothing Russia can do to reverse its demographic decline. It is arithmetic at this time – rising poverty and disease rates and declining life expectancy. Russia is dying. So what does putin do. He unleashes an army of russian trolls to write lies and misinformation about Ukraine. How is that going to solve any of Russia’s problem mr putin. Russia is finished, it is just a matter of time.

    • Dale Davies

He and the Kriminalin just want Pootlerstan citizens to think the Maidan protest has not been successful. If they get the idea Ukraine has succeeded there will be Russian Revolution 3.0.

      • туфтуф

Dale me luv, have u looked up wmr? He s my good friend and a reliable source. Ex US naval intel.

        • Alex George

LOL And yet again we see old Tuphie pretending that he knows people!

How else can he seem important?

    • туфтуф

      Empty words.

      • Alex George

Yes, your claims to sources and information are indeed.

  • Alex George

Excellent work by Ms Samokhvalova, Ms Savchuk and others, exposing these Kremtrolls for what they are.

This is why hte Kremlin will lose its information war – it has to pay each of these people, but there are many volunteers on the side of freedom, all helping to expose Kremlin efforts.

    • туфтуф

Trolls should be exposed for who they are. They are information weapons delivery systems. Info wars are normal in every war.

      • Alex George

Yes, but you aren’t a troll, are you. Just an old windbag, wishing he was important.

        • туфтуф

True. But wld love to become 1. Just dnt know how
Sometimes l believe Russian trolls are a myth.

          • Alex George

Exactly, hence my point that you aren’t a troll, just an old windbag wishing he was important.

        • туфтуф

True. But have friends in high places. I myself am of no importance.

          • Alex George

You have no friends in high places. You are just an old windbag wishing he was important.

          • Alex George

LOL You have consistently shown that you have NO friends in high places!

          • туфтуф

            Ok

Discussing the situation in Donbas, Serhiy Pashynsky, MP from People’s Front, claimed that if the issue was only in the illegal armed groups, they would be eliminated in two weeks already. He said this during “People. Hard Talk” show on air of “112 Ukraine” TV channel.

“We are at war, war not with “DPR” and “LPR”. We are fighting against the Russian Federation. … It if was about “DPR” and “LPR”, they would be out of there in two weeks. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have clearly shown that near Avdiivka. We would throw them out, it would take even less time,” Pashynsky said.

    • Quartermaster

Recall how things were at the beginning? Even the weakened Ukrainian Army and volunteer battalions were crushing the so called “rebels.” If Russia had not intervened, the “rebels” would be worm food.

      • туфтуф

But Russia DID imtervene. Crimea is part of Russia not only because of the will of its ppl expressed in the regerendum, but cus of the Russian fleet and 20k soldiers stationed legally there.

        • Alex George

Of course Russia intervened – can’t you read posts?

The point is that it did so illegally. And it was only able to make any progress when Ukrainian officers ordered their soldiers into barracks and to hand in their weapons. When it came to real fighting the soft Russian boys weren’t up to the job.

Regardless, Putin hasn’t won anything . Russia will give up Crimea and Donbass. It can do it now, and rebuild its economy, or lose its economy and give them up anyway. Its choice .

        • Mykola Potytorsky

          What is a regerendum?

  • Bryan See

Good effort in exposing Kremlin trolls. I hope you expand it throughout the Internet, including Wikipedia.

  • туфтуф

Its normal in a war like situation that all sides resort to propaganda efforts. I wldnt get to worried abt it.

    • Alex George

Of course – and its normal to expose those propaganda efforts, particularly since the war which Russia has started against Ukraine and against the west has no justification.

“I wldnt get to worried abt it.”

In terms of effectiveness, that is quite correct, since it rarely achieves the results that the Kremlin desires.
