Russian military aviation continues to violate the airspace of Ukraine, despite statements of authorities of the Russian Federation on the withdrawal of Russian troops and military equipment from Ukrainian borders.
According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, a Mi-8 military helicopter had violated Ukrainian airspace on Wednesday evening.
“Yesterday evening at around 21:00 the border guards observed how a Mi-8 Russian military helicopter flew one hundred meters into the territory of Ukraine, at a low altitude, turned around and flew back,” told the Head of the Border Agency Service, Oleh Slobodyan.
According to him, this happened at the border of Russia with the Sumy Oblast. Thus, as stated by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Russian military aviation continues to violate the airspace of Ukraine, despite statements by the authorities of the Russian Federation on the withdrawal of Russian troops and military equipment from the borders of Ukraine.
As a reminder, earlier Ukraine urged the Russian Federation to abstain from carrying out flights of combatant aircraft in close proximity to the Ukrainian state borders during the period of presidential elections. Moreover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has demanded that the Russian Federation presents an explanation until 17:00 on the 22nd of May, concerning the military exercises of “Aviadarts-2014”, which are due to take place not far from the Ukrainian border.
