On April 20, 2014 a shootout broke out on the checkpoint of the so-called ‘Donetsk people’s Republic’ at the entrance to Sloviansk close to Bylbasivka village. There are victims on both sides.
As the press service of the Interior Ministry informed, at 02.20 unknown persons on four cars approached the specified checkpoint and opened fire on people who were on duty there. Shots were fired in response.
As a result of the shootout, three people were were fatally injured (two local residents, born in 1957 and 1972, the identity of the third person is still being established), three others are wounded. Two out of the latter declined hospitalization after receiving medical assistance..
Around twelve people of the unknown persons drove from the scene on two cars in the direction of Kharkiv Oblast. They took their killed and wounded with them, and thus their number of victims is unknown. The activists destroyed the two remaining cars on the spot by setting them on fire. This incident is being checked for legal qualification under art. 115 § 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Murder”.
As previously reported, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused the Right Sector in the shootout in Sloviansk.
