Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that over the past week, Russia fired approximately 1,300 attack drones, more than 1,200 guided aerial bombs, and 50 missiles - almost all of them ballistic - at Ukraine.
Russia has increased aerial attacks across Ukraine in recent months, targeting energy infrastructure and civilian areas. The strikes have grown more intense over the winter, with an increasing reliance on ballistic missiles to hit critical sites and spread disruption nationwide.
Energy infrastructure remains primary target
In a statement on 15 February, Zelenskyy said the strikes targeted multiple regions, including Odesa, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy, with energy infrastructure as the primary focus.
He noted that residential areas were also hit, and while Ukrainian forces intercepted many missiles, not all could be stopped.
Berlin Format leaders agree on aid ahead of 24 February
Zelenskyy emphasized that continuous air defense is essential to protecting lives and limiting Russia’s ability to use energy as a weapon.
He added that Ukraine reached agreements with Berlin Format leaders in Munich on specific energy and military aid packages expected to arrive by 24 February.
