Ukraine’s SWORD GROUP breaks Russian blockade on Pokrovsk front to rescue trapped infantry

Ukraine has given an order to its 3rd Regiment of Special Operations Forces (SSO) to conduct a raid against a Russian group preventing the evacuation of wounded infantry trapped in their position in the Pokrovsk direction. Russia has concentrated 170,000 soldiers on this front.

The situation in Pokrovsk city remains the most difficult along the entire front. Ukrainian defense forces are carrying out search-and-strike operations to eliminate Russian occupiers. Ukrainian positions remain in the city center, and ongoing firefights prevent enemy forces from consolidating, according to the East Operational Command.

SWORD GROUP enters the combat zone

Taking advantage of favorable weather, operators from SWORD GROUP entered the combat zone, eliminated two Russian soldiers, and captured a third who surrendered. The prisoner received medical assistance and was evacuated.

As a result, a Ukrainian position was unblocked, and three wounded infantry soldiers were evacuated by a ground robotic complex, which is now regularly deployed by SSO operators during missions.

In October, Ukraine used the Zmii in a similar operation. Then, an unmanned ground vehicle for logistics and demining carried a wounded soldier out of the fire zone while under attack from 152 mm shells, a mine explosion, an FPV drone, and small arms fire.

It is capable of traveling at 10 km/h with a range of 20 km and is armored to withstand both mines and FPV drones.

Ukrainian forces hold key positions in central Pokrovsk

Earlier, the 7th Rapid Response Corps of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces reported that specialized assault units, including the 425th “Skala” Regiment, cleared Russian forces around the railway station, local pedagogical college, and Sobornyi Park.

These actions prevented Russian attempts to regroup and reinforce their northern positions. Any movement across the railway line to the north results in heavy losses for Russia.
