“Defend Ukraine!” A mobile game to support the country under Russian attack

“Defend Ukraine!” A mobile game to support the country under Russian attack

“Defend Ukraine!” was developed by a team of enthusiastic Ukrainians and fans of Ukraine. The arcade style game shows a map of Ukraine and its provinces, on which the icon of an invader (guess who that is!) appears at random. The player has then to hit that icon in time to save that province from foreign occupation. If you succeed to keep all the regions of Ukraine free from aggressors, you’ll hear the Ukrainian anthem. If not, you’ll hear the anthem of the USSR and you should restart the game. “Defend Ukraine!” game has three player modes to choose from: easy, standard and difficult.

The game costs only 99 cents, and ALL profits will go to the Wings of Phoenix charity fund supporting Ukrainians in their struggle for freedom and integrity. This way, players become defenders of Ukraine for real.

The game was positively received all over the world. In the first week after its release, the game made it to no. 1 of the Ukrainian itunes game charts. This shows again the huge support that Ukraine is getting both from Ukrainians and the friends of this great country all over the world.

Currently, the game is available for iPhone/iPad, but the producers are thinking about an Android version as well. You can download the game from itunes via this link.

For those who want to follow “Defend Ukraine!” and the discussions around it, there is a Facebook community to join. Here you will also find links to news coverage of the game and topics related to Ukraine’s fight against aggression. Some snapshots from the game:

Who are the persons behind the game? The idea for the game was developed by Austrian Ulrich Hammerschmidt, who has close family ties to the Ukraine and has made the country his second home. The programming, design and distribution were done by a team from GBKSoft, a software development company which is based in Zaporizhzhia. They all hope that their contribution will be another puzzle piece in the picture of a modern and free Ukraine.
