At around 3 pm on 31 December, Russian military forces shelled Kherson’s Korabelnyi district, reported Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Oblast Military Administration. An 11-year-old boy was killed on site. Another child, a 9-year-old boy, sustained critical injuries.  

“The 9-year-old boy is in extremely critical condition. He has a traumatic brain injury. Doctors are fighting for his life,” the official wrote on Telegram. 

Two more female residents of the city were also injured. A 32-year-old woman was hospitalized with mine-explosion trauma, while a 65-year-old local woman sustained shrapnel back injuries.

Russian troops also shelled Kherson’s Korabelnyi district with artillery at around 10 am on 31 December. Seven people were injured, reported Roman Mrochko, Head of Kherson City.

On 30 December, two people were killed in Russian attacks across Kherson Oblast. The Russians carried out 71 shellings, firing 380 rounds from mortars, artillery, BM-21 Grad MLRS, tanks, ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns, aircraft, and drones, Prokudin reported.
