On 14 December, Ukraine returned five more children from Russian-occupied territories, Kherson Oblast head Oleksandr Produkin said.
According to Produkin, two of the recently returned children evacuated along with their parents. The other three children who returned did not have family members.
"Unfortunately, we are only able to evacuate the children themselves," the Kherson governor said.
The five children are now in a safe location and are being provided with necessary assistance, authorities confirmed, according to Produkin.
Many more are deported and remain in Russia or Russian-occupied territories. According to the data of the Ukrainian authorities, Russia has illegally deported nearly 20,000 children from Ukraine. Ukrainian human rights advocates insist the number of children forcibly displaced from Ukraine is “hundreds of thousands.”
