The US revealed the equipment which would be included in the new assistance package worth $200 million military aid package for Ukraine, the Pentagon announced.
The aid includes air defense systems, components of air defense systems, additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), artillery ammunition, high-speed anti-radiation missiles, anti-tank munitions, small arms ammunition, explosives, HESCO barriers, as well as spare parts and auxiliary equipment.
“This package will provide important new capabilities to boost Ukraine’s air defenses,” said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, adding that the US is committed to supporting Ukraine.
According to Blinken, if Congress does not pass a bill on additional aid, this could be one of the final security assistance packages for Ukraine.
On 12 December, during the meeting with Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenslyy in the White House, US President Joe Biden announced a new $200 million military aid package for Ukraine.
Biden stressed the need for Congress to approve further funding for Kyiv, warning that failure to do so would be a “Christmas present” for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Biden’s request for additional funding to help Ukraine hangs in the balance due to the opposition of some Republicans who demand to secure the USA-Mexico border before they will approve the $110.5 billion allocation to support Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, with $61 billion specifically designated for Ukraine.
