Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has announced Germany is preparing a new “winter” assistance package which will include air defense systems.
The package worth over $1,4 bn would come amid threats of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure during the upcoming cold season.
“Germany is preparing a 1.4 billion euro winter aid package for Ukraine, including air defense equipment,” the prime minister wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Germany was working on supplying Ukraine with an extra Patriot air defense system capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles.
