Energoatom, Ukraine’s state-run company responsible for the operation of all nuclear power plants in the country, has reported that Russian troops abducted Serhii Potynh, a labor protection engineer of the Central Technical and Administrative Department of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant who stayed in Enerhodar and worked at the facility.
The engineer is subjected to torture in Russian captivity, the company says. Potynh was last seen at a police department controlled by invaders, where civilians and employees of the Zaporizhzhia are being held captive. “Each time after torturing the engineer, invaders send him to the hospital to keep him alive,” Energoatom reveals.
In its statement, the company called on the Director-General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, and the global community to take all possible measures to secure the release of all Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant employees held captive by Russian terrorists.
