Russian forces conducted mass drone attacks on Kharkiv throughout 2 May, striking gas stations and residential neighborhoods, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov and the State Emergency Service (SES) reported.
From the morning, Russian drones struck the Shevchenkivskyi, Kholodnohirskyi, and Osnovianskyi districts of Kharkiv. Four gas stations and an apartment building were damaged.
According to the reports, six people were injured in the city. A 62-year-old man was hospitalized with blast injuries and is in moderate condition. Medics also treated five other people at the scene for acute stress reactions: women aged 39, 47, and 57, and two men aged 61 and 44.
As hromadske notes, the previous day, on 1 May, occupiers also carried out mass attacks on gas stations in Kharkiv Oblast, with five filling stations targeted.
Overnight drone strikes on the city
On the night of 2 May, Russian forces had already attacked Kharkiv with drones. One UAV flew into a 12th-floor apartment but did not detonate, Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Syniehubov reported.
The drone struck a building in the Shevchenkivskyi district. A 23-year-old man who was inside sustained shrapnel wounds to the chest. According to Syniehubov, a 25-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman also experienced acute stress reactions from the strike on the building.
In the Kholodnohirskyi district, a strike drone hit cars and started a fire — two vehicles were destroyed and seven more damaged. The Saltivskyi district also came under attack, where drone debris was found near a residential building.
Strikes on the suburbs and other regions
In the Kharkiv suburb of Vasyshcheve, Russian forces damaged houses, outbuildings, and vehicles. Six people were injured, including a teenager, the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported.
The Ukrainian Air Force stated that overnight Russia deployed 163 UAVs in total — Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones. As of 8:00 a.m., 142 drones were neutralized in the north, south, and east of the country. However, 17 hit targets at 12 locations, and shot-down drones (debris) fell at two further locations.
The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration also reported strikes on Pavlohrad that injured three people and damaged a five-story building and around a dozen cars. Port infrastructure in Odesa Oblast was also hit, the SES said. It sustained damage, but there were no casualties.
