The city of Tuapse in Russia's Krasnodar Krai came under drone attack overnight. There are casualties, and a fire broke out at the seaport, local governor Veniamin Kondratyev reports.
According to him, one man was killed and another injured at the seaport as a result of the attack.
UAV debris damaged glazing in a number of buildings across the city, including a primary school, a kindergarten, a museum, a church, an apartment building, and also a gas pipe.
Footage of a large-scale fire in Tuapse has spread across social media, which is being attributed to a strike on the local oil refinery. The Tuapse oil refinery forms a single production complex with the local port.
Ukraine's drone campaign has repeatedly struck Russian military assets and logistics infrastructure in Russian-occupied territories since the start of the full-scale invasion. Attacks on fuel storage facilities on the peninsula have reduced available reserves, putting pressure on Russian military logistics along the southern front. Each air defense system knocked out across the occupied territories leaves remaining military infrastructure more exposed to subsequent strikes.
The previous attack on Tuapse took place only on 16 April. The Operational Headquarters of Krasnodar Krai only finally extinguished the related fire on 19 April. More than 150 people and 49 units of equipment were deployed to put out the fire.
Amphibious ships and a Russian radar station in occupied Crimea under an attack
On the night of 19 April, operatives of the "Prymary" (Ghosts) special unit struck two Russian large landing ships in occupied Crimea — the Project 775 LST "Yamal" and the Project 1171 LST "Nikolay Filchenkov," the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense reports.
According to the intelligence service, at the moment of the strike the Russian Black Sea Fleet vessels were located in Sevastopol Bay.
The Project 775 LST "Yamal," built in 1988, is 112.5 meters long and can carry up to 500 tonnes of cargo, including armored vehicles and troops. Its approximate value exceeds $80 million.
The Project 1171 LST "Nikolay Filchenkov," built in 1975, has a carrying capacity of up to 1,000 tonnes, which allows it to transport dozens of armored vehicles and a large landing contingent. Its approximate value exceeds $70 million.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, Russia used both ships in the war against Ukraine. They are now out of service.
As part of the same operation in temporarily occupied Sevastopol, intelligence operatives also destroyed a Russian "Podlet-K1" radar station. The approximate value of the radar complex is $5 million.
