Pokrovsk direction on fire. Fighters of the 79th Separate Tavrian Air Assault Brigade of the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces report they have inflicted devastating losses on Russian forces in the Pokrovsk direction.
According to available information, the 2nd Battalion of the 5th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade “Oplot” was withdrawn from the combat zone for full recovery due to critical, irreversible losses.
Old enemies from 2014 return to battlefield: Oplot unit
The 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade, named after Ukrainian traitor Alexander Zakharchenko, is well known to soldiers of the 79th Brigade from the early stages of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014.
At that time, Ukrainian paratroopers already confronted this unit during fierce battles for the Donetsk International Airport.
Russian units withdraw forces and prepare new assaults
According to Ukrainian military sources, despite constant attempts by the enemy to restore its forces and redeploy new units to the sector, Tavrian paratroopers continue to methodically destroy Russian troops and disrupt their offensive plans.
At the same time, according to preliminary information, units of one of the enemy’s motorized rifle brigades are moving positions from the areas of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad to other nearby settlements.
The likely purpose of this regrouping is to prepare for new assault operations north of these cities.
