The Swedish government has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $1.42 billion. The package is part of a broader 2026 support program totaling around $4.4 billion for Kyiv, Reuters reports.
Air defense is the priority: what the package includes
The largest component is the procurement of new short-range air defense systems, valued at about $470 million. Overall, the aid package includes:
- air defense systems;
- drones;
- long-range missiles;
- artillery ammunition.
Scale of support: Sweden among the leading donors
Defense Minister Pål Jonson says that, with the new package included, Stockholm’s total military support to Kyiv since 2022 has reached about $11.3 billion.
"The focus is clear: newly manufactured air defence systems, long-range capabilities and ammunition to meet Ukraine’s most urgent operational needs," Jonson states.
Financial support via the World Bank
Separately, Stockholm announced plans to provide guarantees to the World Bank for a $275 million loan to Ukraine to strengthen financial resilience.
