The 11th Separate Army Aviation Brigade Kherson reported the loss of a Mi-24 helicopter crew during combat operations in Russia's war against Ukraine.
"Our brothers-in-arms did not return from a combat mission – the crew of a Mi-24 helicopter," the brigade reported in a post. "Only the best sons of Ukraine are capable of defending the Motherland so heroically and fighting desperately in the sky against the occupier."
The fallen defenders were officers, according to the brigade.
The Mi-24 is a Soviet-era attack and transport helicopter designed for infantry support. Unofficially known as the "Crocodile," the aircraft has been in service for decades. As of 2024, Ukraine operated 45 such helicopters.
This marks the second reported loss of a Mi-24 crew in recent months. In December, the 12th Separate Army Aviation Brigade announced that a Mi-24 crew had been killed during a combat mission.
The 11th Brigade provided no additional details about the circumstances of the incident or the timing of the loss.
