Russian double-strike tactic kills logistics workers in Kharkiv; 30 rescued from rubble

In the night of 13 January, a Russian combined attack with missiles and drones on Kharkiv's suburbs killed four civilians and wounded six others, according to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

"The number of deaths as a result of the enemy strike on Kharkiv's suburbs reached 4 people. Also, 6 people were wounded to varying degrees," Syniehubov said.

Dmytro Yatsychenko, head of the procedural management department of pre-trial investigations at the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, told Suspilne that Russia used double-strike tactics. The Russian first attacked with ballistic missiles, then with strike drones.

Rescuers conducted search operations and unblocked victims trapped under rubble. The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office released footage showing extensive destruction of the logistics center's structures and fire-damaged cargo vehicles at the Nova Poshta terminal.

Nova Poshta reported on 12 January morning that four company employees were killed in the strike: two sorting center workers and two partner-carrier drivers. Four more employees were wounded—three sorting center staff and one partner-carrier driver.

"They are in the hospital under medical supervision, their lives are not in danger," the company stated.

Nova Poshta said it remains in constant contact with the families of the deceased and provides all necessary assistance. "We will contact clients whose parcels were destroyed and compensate their value," the company added.

The State Emergency Service reported that the strike on the postal terminal caused building destruction and several fires across approximately 500 square meters. "State Emergency Service employees rescued 30 people, 2 of whom from under the rubble of the destroyed building's structures," the service reported.

Earlier, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that a Russian Shahed drone hit a children's sanatorium in the city's Shevchenkivskyi district overnight, causing a fire.

In Kyiv Oblast, Russian attacks caused destruction and fires in residential buildings and industrial facilities, but there were no casualties, according to regional governor Mykola Kalashnyk. Emergency power cuts were introduced in three districts.

"In Vyshhorod district, an enemy attack caused a fire in a private residential house. In Brovary district, three private houses were damaged (windows blown out, facade damaged), a car and a temporary structure. In Fastiv district, an outbuilding caught fire as a result of the attack," Kalashnyk wrote on Telegram.

He noted that rescuers, power engineers, utility and emergency services are working on site, and the region's critical infrastructure has been switched to alternative power.

The State Emergency Service added that the attack caused destruction and fires at industrial facilities as well.

"Due to the enemy's terrorist actions, emergency power cuts were introduced in part of Bucha district, and they continue in Brovary and Boryspil districts. In other districts of the region, stabilization schedules are being applied," Kalashnyk reported.

He added that Points of Invincibility are operating in the region, where people can warm up, charge phones and receive necessary assistance. "I ask everyone who has electricity to use it sparingly—this will help stabilize the system faster and return power to those waiting for it," Kalashnyk said.

DTEK earlier reported that emergency power cuts were introduced in the capital and Bucha district of Kyiv region. The Ministry of Energy explained that the restrictions were caused by a missile-drone attack on energy facilities, severe frost, and consequences of bad weather in Kyiv region.

In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, two people were wounded, fires broke out, and infrastructure and housing were damaged as a result of Russian drone and missile strikes, according to regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha and the State Emergency Service.

"In the evening (12 January – ed.), the enemy attacked Kryvyi Rih with UAVs. And at night carried out a massive attack with missiles and drones on the district—Zelenodolsk community. A fire broke out. Infrastructure was damaged. And also—2 private houses, a gas pipeline. A 69-year-old woman was injured," Hanzha stated.

The woman was hospitalized in moderate condition, according to Hanzha.

The occupiers also struck Vasylkivska community in Synelnykove district with drones. An 86-year-old man was wounded in the attack and taken to hospital in moderate condition. A private house burned in the district, and housing, an outbuilding, a car, a trailer, and a gas pipeline were damaged.

Another house was damaged by a drone attack on Solonianska community in Dnipro district.

"The enemy directed FPV drones at Nikopol area. Struck Nikopol, Marhanets, Pokrovsk, Chervonohryhorivka communities. A car caught fire. A private house and power line were damaged," Hanzha reported.
