Ukraine confirms strike on Volgograd oil depot and destruction of five Russian military sites

Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Zhutovska oil depot in the Oktyabrsky district of Russia's Volgograd Oblast during the night of 10 January. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on social media.

According to the General Staff, the facility is "involved in supplying fuel to units of the occupying forces." Damage from the strike is currently being assessed.

Volgograd Oblast governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed a fire at the oil depot, attributing it to "falling UAV debris." According to him, there were no casualties.

On the same day, Ukrainian forces hit several targets in occupied territories. In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, a UAV storage facility of a unit from the 19th motorized rifle division of the Russian Armed Forces was destroyed. In the Pokrovsk area of Donetsk Oblast, a UAV control point was struck.

In temporarily occupied Donetsk Oblast, strikes hit a concentration of personnel from the 76th air assault division in Kurakhivka, a command observation post of a unit from the tank battalion of the same division in Hirnyk, and a control point of a unit from the 41st army, also in Hirnyk.

"In all cases, hits by strike UAVs on targets were recorded. Enemy losses are being clarified," the General Staff statement said.

The military agency added: "The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue systematic actions to reduce the offensive and military-economic potential of the Russian occupying forces and to compel Russia to cease armed aggression against Ukraine."

On the same day, 10 January, Belgorod Oblast governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated on Telegram that 600,000 residents were left without electricity, heating, and water due to a Ukrainian missile strike. According to him, the situation is "extremely difficult."

Reuters journalists reported that street lights in Belgorod are not working, and residents are navigating with the help of handheld flashlights and car headlights.

The publication noted that Russia regularly attacks Ukraine's energy infrastructure, causing Ukrainians to experience daily power outages, and this winter occupiers have also targeted heating systems.
