Ukraine collected 57.6 million tons of grain and 17.3 million tons of oilseeds in 2025, the Ministry of Economy reports. After corn harvesting is complete, total grain production is expected to reach approximately 60 million tons.
In terms of grain production volume, the country ranks second among European Union states—after France (63.1 million tons), ahead of Germany (45.2 million tons) and Poland (36.5 million tons).
Ukraine leads in the corn segment: in 2025, the harvest was 23.5 million tons, while total production of this crop in the EU reached 57 million tons. The situation is similar with sunflower—Ukrainian production is estimated at 9 million tons, exceeding the total figure for EU countries, which stands at 8.5 million tons.
France and Germany demonstrate grain yields 42–48% higher than Ukraine's. The Ministry of Economy notes that this gap is not explained by climatic factors, as agricultural production in these countries is concentrated in similar agroclimatic zones.
"This indicates Ukraine's significant potential to increase yields through investments, modern technologies, development of agricultural infrastructure and access to financing," the Ministry of Economy reported.
"Ukraine is already one of the key grain producers in Europe and the world. The Ukrainian agricultural sector does not pose threats to the EU market, but on the contrary—strengthens supply stability and enhances global food security," emphasized Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi.
In December, the Ukrainian Grain Association projected that by the end of the harvest season, grain and oilseed production in 2025 would reach 81.4 million tons.
