President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on 23 December that Washington remains committed to achieving a peace agreement, following a briefing from Ukraine's delegation on their negotiations with the United States.
"We feel that America wants to reach a final agreement, and from our side – full cooperation," Zelenskyy said in his evening address.
The president received a report from Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and presidential aide Andriy Yermak after their return from the United States. "They reported on the working drafts of agreements that already exist, on the points of agreements that we managed to make stronger. We continue to be in constant contact with America, we expect further work," Zelenskyy stated.
The Ukrainian delegation spent three days in Florida for meetings with American and European partners. Umerov described the talks as productive and constructive on December 21.
Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's position in the diplomatic process: "Ukraine has never been and will never be an obstacle to peace. We are working actively and doing everything to ensure that the documents exist and that the documents are realistic."
The president placed responsibility on Moscow for the success of diplomatic efforts. "The main thing is that Russia does not disrupt this diplomacy and takes the end of the war one hundred percent seriously," he said.
Zelenskyy called for continued pressure on Russia to end its aggression against Ukraine, stating that "the world has all the tools for the pressure to work, for peace to be achieved."
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also characterized the negotiations between representatives of the United States, Europe, and Ukraine as productive.
US Vice President JD Vance said progress had been made in peace negotiations regarding Ukraine, though he expressed no certainty about reaching a peaceful settlement.
