President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received reports from Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umierov and Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Andriy Hnatov on the results of meetings with the American team, he announced on 23 December, on social media.
Following what Zelenskyy described as a productive meeting with representatives of US President Donald Trump, several document drafts have now been prepared. These include documents on security guarantees for Ukraine, on reconstruction, and on a basic framework for ending the war.
"The points are currently fixed in such a way as to meet the task of a real end to the war and the need to prevent a third Russian invasion," Zelenskyy said. "Each round of negotiations and meetings adds security to Ukrainian interests, and this is exactly how constructively we will continue this work."
The Ukrainian president also thanked European partners for their support and coordination. "We are waiting for the continuation of dialogue with America. And it is important that diplomacy always goes hand in hand with the necessary pressure on Russia and the necessary support for Ukraine," Zelenskyy added.
On 21 December, Umierov said that meetings with American and European partners over the previous three days in Florida were productive and constructive. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also said that negotiations between representatives of the United States, Europe, and Ukraine were productive.
The US Vice President JD Vance said that progress had been made in peace negotiations regarding Ukraine, but there is no certainty that a peaceful settlement will be achieved.
