Ukraine's defense industry received over 1.5 billion hryvnias ($35 mn) in state support to restore operations damaged by Russian strikes, the Defense Ministry announced.
"Ukrainian defense-industrial complex is steadily increasing its capabilities, and the share of domestic weapons in supplies to the Defense Forces continues to grow," Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
The ministry updated its funding mechanism for war-damaged enterprises this summer, enabling rapid disbursement of recovery funds. The changes to government regulations now allow budget resources to support defense industry development, technology implementation, and production capacity expansion.
Ukraine is developing a comprehensive emergency plan to ensure defense enterprises can operate under current conditions. The core element involves relocating or duplicating facilities of the most critical defense plants.
The ministry is prioritizing moves from areas where Russia actively uses guided aerial bombs, which pose constant production risks. Construction of underground manufacturing complexes is underway to provide protected, continuous military equipment production.
The ministry emphasized these measures aim to ensure long-term resilience of Ukraine's defense industry and maintain front-line supplies regardless of enemy attack intensity.
The European Union recently approved a program to support Ukraine's defense industry and integrate it with the bloc's defense sector.
