Ukraine's Eastern Grouping of Forces has reported that Ukrainian defenders repelled approximately 50 Russian assaults on the Pokrovsk direction over the past day. On 10 December, the occupiers initiated active operations in the morning, aiming to capitalize on unfavorable weather conditions for a breakthrough.
Yesterday, Ukrainian forces destroyed two vehicles, six motorcycles, two ground robotic systems, seven drones, three pieces of specialized equipment, and 15 enemy shelters.
Ukrainian troops destroy Russian "box" leading southern column
Defense of Pokrovsk continues: Ukrainian troops control nearly 13 sq km in the northern part of the city. Search-and-assault operations and elimination of Russian forces in urban areas are ongoing.
In the area of Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk's twin city, the situation remains challenging; however, Ukrainian units are holding their positions and completing their assigned tasks.
Russia launches armor and motorcycle assault on Pokrovsk
Russian forces are conducting intensive assaults on the southeastern outskirts of Pokrovsk, employing armored, automotive, and motorcycle units. Columns attempted to advance from the south to the northern part of the city, but the 7th Air Assault Corps successfully repelled the attack.
The 68th Separate Rifle Brigade, named after Oleksa Dovbush, destroyed the first Russian “box,” after which artillery and other units continued targeting Russian equipment and troops.
Various components of the Defense Forces are involved in defending the outskirts of Pokrovsk, including Air Assault Forces, assault units, Special Operations Forces, the National Guard, and the National Police.
Logistics remains challenging, so operations are ongoing to expand supply corridors in Myrnohrad to ensure timely support for units and the evacuation of the wounded, says Ukraine's Eastern Grouping of Forces.
Myrnohrad corridor closing as Russia is "everywhere"
Meanwhile, the exit from Myrnohrad via a conditional “corridor” has become even more dangerous in recent weeks, Ukrainska Pravda reports, citing two unnamed sources.
The closed ‘gray zone’ has essentially held for several weeks. The last time Ukraine rotated personnel here with equipment was in late November, and then in early December, only a few people managed to leave on foot – that’s all.
In November, there was another attempt via Rodynske, but all three vehicles, Ukrainian and those of allied units, were destroyed.
"A critical accumulation of Russian forces is taking, and that’s it. They’re everywhere, and it’s impossible to stop them. Logistics are blocked,” a marine officer fighting on the Pokrovsk direction, told the journalists.
The report notes that, since the route to Myrnohrad through Pokrovsk is no longer viable due to significant parts of the city being under enemy control, the Ukrainian garrison is forced to use roads through two small villages – Rivne and Svitlye. At the same time, part of Rivne is occupied by Russian military forces.
Thus, the corridor for exiting the city has become even more dangerous, the report concludes.
