Ukraine’s Dnipro Oblast receives 100 generators from Germany

The Dnipropetrovsk Oblast received 100 generators from Germany’s Federal Agency for Technical Assistance, Governor Serhiy Lysak said on 1 November.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, particularly cities like Nikopol, has been suffering from persistent Russian artillery and missile attacks since 2022. These attacks regularly target critical infrastructure, leading to frequent power outages and disruptions to essential services throughout the oblast. Backup power sources are crucial for maintaining the basic operations of hospitals, schools, and water supply facilities.

According to Lysak, the generators will be distributed among the oblast’s settlements. The equipment is slated for installation in educational and medical facilities, critical infrastructure enterprises, and water wells.

Germany has also provided two manipulators to be deployed in Nikopol and the Chervonohryhorivska community, areas that face regular Russian shelling, according to the report.

The delivery follows Germany’s announcement in early October to provide six large power generators to Ukraine as part of winter preparation efforts.

The Netherlands has announced a new €209.5 million ($228 mn) support package aimed at restoring critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
