Four dead, six wounded as rescue operations conclude after night strike in Kharkiv

Emergency workers have completed rescue operations in Kharkiv's Osnovianskyy district following a Russian aerial bomb strike that hit a residential area on the night of 29 October 2024. The attack resulted in four deaths and left six people injured.

Kharkiv is subjected to Russian airstrikes daily as Ukraine doesn't have the means to strike Russian airfields and shoot down Russian planes at a distance.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) reported

that rescue workers recovered the bodies of four victims from the rubble of the destroyed private residential sector. The victims included two women, aged 70 and 90, and two men, aged 25 and 26.

"Emergency responders, working alongside city utility services, cleared 320 cubic meters of construction debris from the completely destroyed house," the SES stated on Facebook. The operation involved 21 rescue workers and four units of emergency equipment.

The Russian strike, which occurred at 3:00 AM, caused extensive damage to the residential area: one house

was completely destroyed, 19 homes were damaged, and four vehicles were damaged.

The attack was carried out using guided aerial bombs targeting the residential sector of Kharkiv's Osnovianskyy district. The strike also damaged the historic Derzhprom building, an architectural landmark in the city.

This attack represents another instance of Russian forces targeting civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, which has faced regular bombardment since the start of the full-scale invasion.
