Ukraine’s air defense intercepted 41 of 80 Russian drones across ten regions, with most shot down in Odesa and Kyiv oblasts. Meanwhile, Russian attacks resulted in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage across multiple regions.
Ukrainian Air Force reports shooting down 41 Shahed-type drones out of 80 launched by Russian forces in the early hours of 27 October. According to the Air Force, the drones were launched from Orel, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.
The air defense operation involved anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine. The drones were intercepted across ten oblasts, with most successes recorded in Odesa and Kyiv regions.
Additionally, 32 Russian drones were reportedly “locationally lost” – meaning crashed, while one headed toward Belarus. The Air Forces figures suggest that at least six Russian drones might have reached their targets.
Russian attacks
Multiple Ukrainian regions have come under Russian artillery and air attacks since yesterday and into this morning.
In Sumy Oblast, authorities reported 37 attacks on border areas and settlements, with 48 explosions recorded. One civilian was wounded in Sumy city by a Shahed strike.
Russian shelling injured two civilians – a woman, 26, and a man 36, – in Nikopol district, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, according to the regional administration.
In Donetsk Oblast, police reported that Russian forces killed two residents of Donetsk Oblast, with nine civilians and four police officers injured as eight settlements were targeted. In Kostiantynivka, Russian forces dropped two FAB-250 bombs with gliding kits, killing one person and injuring three civilians. Another civilian was killed in Mykolaivka. In Kostiantynopil, Russian forces struck with Tornado-S multiple rocket launchers, wounding two residents. Two more people were injured in Kurakhove by a drone attack.
According to Donetsk Oblast Military Administration chief Vadym Filashkin, a total of 2,839 Donetsk Oblast’s residents have been killed and 6,348 wounded since Russia’s full-scale invasion began, excluding casualties in Volnovakha and Mariupol.
In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, regional military administration head Ivan Fedorov reported 355 Russian attacks targeting 10 settlements on 26 October, including two air strikes, 215 drone attacks, and 136 artillery strikes. At least five reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure were recorded. No one was hurt.
Kharkiv Oblast Administration reported that one of multiple Russian attacks in the region on 26 October killed a 65-year-old civilian man, and injured another man, 84.
Ukrainian air attacks Inside Russia
Russian Defense Ministry claimed intercepting 51 Ukrainian drones overnight on 27 October across multiple regions of Russia: 18 in Tambov Oblast, 16 in Belgorod Oblast, four each in Bryansk, Lipetsk, and Orel oblasts, three in Voronezh Oblast, one in Kursk Oblast, and one over the Azov Sea.
Tambov Oblast governor Maxim Yegorov reported a fire in the Michurinsk municipal district following a drone attack. According to Russian Telegram channels, the fire occurred at a Transneft-Druzhba dispatch station in Novomikilske village, near the Michurinsk oil refinery.
