Biden postpones trip to Ramstein in Germany due to hurricane threat

US President Joe Biden postponed his planned trips to Germany and Angola due to Hurricane Milton, which is expected to hit Florida soon.

According to the White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden will remain in the United States to "oversee preparations for and response to Hurricane Milton" and to monitor ongoing recovery efforts from Hurricane Helen in the southeastern part of the country.

The president was scheduled to participate in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting, which was held in the Ramstein format, in Germany on 12 October. This would have been the first in-person gathering of leaders in this format.

At the Ramstein meeting, Zelenskyy should
have unveiled the “victory plan,” Ukraine's President, who had previously presented it to US President Joe Biden during a visit to Washington in late September.

According to European Pravda, new steps in support of Ukraine, particularly regarding its North Atlantic integration, are expected at the Ramstein format meeting of allies.

The cancellation of Biden's trip is critical for Ukraine's defense efforts and its aspirations for closer ties with NATO. The Ramstein format meetings have been a key platform for coordinating military aid to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began.
