The Ukrainian Defense Forces anticipate an increase in Russian assault operations in the coming days near Orikhiv and Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, according to Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces.
Voloshin warned that Russia aims to gain fire control over Ukrainian logistical routes in the area, according to Ukrainska Pravda.
“If there’s a breakthrough, the Russian forces could take under fire control the logistical routes leading from Zaporizhzhia to eastern Ukraine, where our Defense Forces are holding both Donetsk Oblast and the southern part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast,” Voloshin said.
The spokesperson emphasized the strategic importance of this region, saying, “The Russians will try at all costs to take this under control to cut off our logistics.”
Voloshin said that assault operations are currently ongoing, and new ones are being prepared in this direction, particularly near Orikhiv and Robotyne. “The enemy is transferring personnel there, conducting reconnaissance, providing logistical support, and shortly, in a few days, will likely intensify new assault actions,” he added.
