Ukrainian command denies Russian troops have entered the outskirts of Chasiv Yar, a town in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk Oblast.
“The situation there is very difficult, the fighting continues, but they [Russian troops] are not there. Don’t believe the Russian reports,” Andriy Zadubinnyi, spokesman for Ukraine’s eastern command told Reuters.
Earlier, Russia’s state RIA news agency stated that Russian forces were in the suburb of Chasiv Yar.
However, Deep State project analysts believe that Russian troops are close to capturing Chasiv Yar, having already taken several small houses on the eastern outskirts and attempted to storm high-rise buildings. They warn that street-to-street fighting in the town is highly likely.
The analysts also express concern over the potential loss of Robotyne, a village in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and one of Ukraine’s few territorial gains in the 2023 counteroffensive. Despite Ukrainian forces driving Russians out of a captured school, the Russians continue their assault and are trying to consolidate positions in the southern part of the village.
The analysts caution that without addressing misinformation and coordination issues and constructing robust defensive fortifications, the Russians may recapture Robotyne.
