Collaborator Chaika died in car explosion in occupied Starobilsk, Luhansk Oblast
The car of collaborator Valeriy Chaika was blown up in the Russsia-occupied Starobilsk, Luhansk Oblast. The Kremlin-appointed head of the Luhansk occupational administration, Vladimir Chernov, said on 1 April on Telegram that a homemade explosive device was planted in Chaika's car. Euromaidan Press can not verify this information. Chaika sided with Russia in 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine. At that time, he was appointed "adviser to the head of the Starobilsk district administration." He was one of the organizers of the opening of the local branch of the self-proclaimed “Luhansk People's Republic's” ("LNR") Ministry of Internal Affairs. During the last months, Chaika held the position of the deputy head of Russia's educational organization in the "LNR." British Defense Ministry reported
on 28 March that the Russian government continues to integrate the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine into its legal and administrative systems through educational programs. In particular, the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration “launched a master’s degree in ‘State and municipal management.’” The UK intel reported that this likely aims “to overcome the shortage of willing and skilled personnel in Russian government roles in the occupied territories of Ukraine.” Such multifaceted Russification campaigns in occupied Ukraine aim to destroy Ukrainian trace and Ukrainian identity.
