On 6 March, Russia’s attacks against Ukraine killed at least seven and injured at least 14 civilians, including children, with casualties reported in the Odesa, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Kherson oblasts, according to reports published by local authorities on 7 March.
Odesa
On 6 March, a Russian missile attack on the port of Odesa killed five people, according to Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk. He stated that investigative actions were underway to establish all the circumstances of this war crime committed by Russia, with the total number of casualties still being determined.
Russia kills 5 in Odesa during Zelenskyy, Greek PM Mitsotakis meeting
The air raid alert was sounded at around 10:40 AM local time, followed by a loud explosion, during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Odesa.
Kherson
In Kherson Oblast, Russian attacks injured four people and damaged 16 homes over the past day, according to regional leader Oleksandr Prokudin.
In the regional capital city of Kherson, the Russian strikes damaged a higher educational institution, a gas pipeline, a car, and port infrastructure. Hits were also recorded on a critical infrastructure object and a warehouse in the populated areas of the oblast. Russian shelling destroyed a Kherson household, injuring a local 45-year-old woman.
In Kherson’s Beryslav, a 59-year-old man and his 58-year-old wife suffered blast injuries and concussions when a Russian drone dropped an explosive onto their home. They received medical treatment and will continue their recovery on an outpatient basis, according to Prokudin.
Kharkiv
This morning, Kharkiv Oblast Head Oleh Syniehubov reported Russia’s artillery and mortar attacks on 22 settlements in the region and air strikes on six towns on 6 March. He reported civilian casualties:
- “Today, after midnight, a strike with a guided aerial bomb in the village of Borova damaged the facade of a residential building, a fence, and a car. The 73-year-old female homeowner experienced an acute stress reaction. There was no fire.“
- “At 13:30 [on 6 March] in the town of Borova, Izium district, a garage, an outbuilding, and two cars caught fire as a result of a strike. Preliminary reports indicate that the enemy used an Iskander-M missile. A 70-year-old man died near the car. A woman was rescued from the rubble, and her five children, as well as a man from a neighboring house, were injured. In total, 12 houses were damaged.”
The State Emergency Service reported that overnight, the Russians launched drone strikes on the agency’s training ground in Kharkiv Oblast, partially destroying a one-story administrative building. Two rescue service units quickly extinguished the fire, preventing its spread to other buildings and a coniferous forest, with no casualties or injuries reported.
Russian attack injures 7 people, including 3 children, kills one man in Kharkiv Oblast
Donetsk Oblast
In Donetsk Oblast, Russian attacks resulted in one civilian fatality in the village of Netailove, as reported by oblast Head Vadym Filashkin. Additionally, two individuals were injured in Kleban-Byk, and another was injured in Pokrovsk.
The attacks also caused damage in various locations, including a house and an agricultural enterprise in Novoukrainka of the Vuhledar community, seven apartment buildings in Ukrainsk of the Selydove community, and multiple homes in the Illinivska, Zarychne, Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, Siversk, Soledar, and Zvanivka communities, as well as in the outskirts of the Kostiantynivka community.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast was targeted three times by the Russian troops on 6 March, according to regional head Serhii Lysak. An elderly woman was injured by an attack drone, and a large fire broke out when a Russian artillery attack targeted a shopping center – local sources reported it was the Epicenter DIY chain mall, covering over 4,000 square meters, but fortunately, no one was injured.
In addition to these attacks, the Russians targeted the district center with heavy artillery and a kamikaze drone, damaging six private homes, three outbuildings, a car, and a power line, while a residential building caught fire but was extinguished by firefighters, and the Russian army also directed a drone at the Marhanets community, but no casualties were reported in these attacks.
