Overnight into 4 January, Russia launched 2 Shahed drones on Ukraine, Ukraine’s Air Defence Forces reported. Ukraine’s Air Defence shot down both over Khmelnytskyi Oblast.
On the morning of 4 January, Russian troops shelled Ochakiv, Mykolaiv Oblast, on two occasions with artillery, causing a fire at an energy infrastructure facility, said Mykolaiv Oblast head Vitaliy Kim, which caused a partial blackout in the region.
On the evening of 3 January, Russia launched a missile attack on Snihurivka, Mykolaiv Oblast. The Russian strike hit an enterprise, and detached homes were also damaged. Four people sustained injuries of varying severity. According to Vitaliy Kim, a 15-year-old girl was killed in this Russian attack.
Overnight on 4 January, the Russian military attacked the town of Kurakhove in the Donetsk Oblast, local governor Vadym Filashkin said. The night attack resulted in the destruction of a kindergarten, a school, a health facility, and a coffee shop, and damaging high-rise buildings.
On the morning of 4 January, the Russian military targeted the Marinka, Avdiivka, and Kurakhivka communities, damaging houses. Russian recent shelling of Katerynivka in the Marinka community killed one person and injured another civilian.
Over the last day, Russia fired 19 shells at Kherson City, Kherson Oblast head Oleksandr Produkin reported. Russia made 97 attacks on Kherson Oblast, launching 486 shells from mortars, artillery, Grad multiple rocket launchers, tanks, UAVs, and aircraft.
The attack damaged residential areas in the oblast’s settlements, an educational institution, and an enterprise in the Kherson district. Reportedly, two people died as a result of the Russian attack on the oblast.
On the evening of 3 January, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv with S-300 missiles, Kharkiv Oblast head Oleh Suniehubov said. The attack damaged windows in a residential building. Reportedly, there were no casualties.
Over the past day, Russia launched artillery and mortar shelling attacks on more than 15 settlements in Kharkiv Oblast.
