Late on 3 December, Russians launched another air attack on Ukraine, launching several groups of Shahed-series explosive drones from occupied Crimea. The last Shaheds remained in Ukraine’s airspace until around 4 a.m. on 4 December.

“Overnight into 4 December 2023, the enemy attacked with 23 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs from Cape Chauda, occupied Crimea, and a guided missile [launched] from the airspace of the occupied Kherson Oblast,” Ukraine’s Air Force reported, adding that air defenders destroyed 18 drones and a Kh-59 air-launched guided missile during the attack.

According to the Air Force, Ukraine engaged fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, and the Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces mobile fire groups in repelling the attack.

Media and official reports say that residents of several southern, central, and western regions could hear explosions as air defenses were active.

The Regional Military Administration of Khmelnetskyi Oblast reported the night activity of the air defenses but noted that there were no reports on injuries or damage to infrastructure. Other regional authorities did not mention any damage in their reports either.

The Mykolaiv regional authorities said the air defenders downed six Shahed-131/136 drones in the skies of the oblast.

Such drone attacks occur almost every day for months.
